Cardiff and Newport SANDS

Our 7th Annual Charity Golf Fundraising Day took place on a blistering hot day of June 29th at the wonderful Wenvoe Castle Golf Course.

With a challenging course, it proved quite difficult for many with only 2 players breaking par.  It did however seem to be a walk in the park for these two.John Edwards, of the Wedges playing a fantastic round and coming home in -7 on 43 points, and he must have thought that to be a winning score.  It was however to be disappointment for John, as he was just pipped to the individual prize by our Tournament regular Mark Merrett who's unbelievable consistency got him to -8 (44 points) playing off 16.  Congratulations to Mark.

In the Team game, helped in large part by Marks awesome scoring, it was team "Allsorts" who won the prize. Congratulations to Mark once again, along side Dean Coombes, Andrew Harris, and Anthony Kemp.

​

Longest Drive also went to the same team - this time to Dean Coombes who's blistering drive on the 18th was winner by a country mile.

​

The Allsorts weren't to have it all their own way, as Nearest the in went to Nigel Morse.

​

With a best endeavour prize also awarded, there was lots to play for both ends of the leaderboard.  A quality days Golf had by all.

​

Onto the evening do, Wenvoe Castle served up a delicious 3 course meal for golfers and further guests who joined us for the evening where a fundraising auction and raffle took place.  Top seller in the auction was a signed Wales Football Shirt.

In all the event raised over £2k for Cardiff and Newport SANDS, and we would like to thank all who came along or contributed to make it once again a very enjoyable event.
