The Seren Roberts Memorial Golf Tournament and Fundraising Dinner 2017

Seren Roberts Memorial Tournament 2017

After a years absense in 2016 (due to the organisers unavailabilty as following Wales on their Euro 2016 Journey around France),  the 6th Seren Roberts Memorial Tournament, took place at Llanishen Golf Club, Cardiff, on the 30th June 2017.

The weather remained kind to us despite an unpredictable forecast, and a very entertaining and close competition was played out across the beautiful course overlooking the Cardiff City Cityscape and Severn Estuaury.

On the team front, we had our competitions' first ever tied result, with both 5 Point Installation and MJFS Ltd finishing on 91 points (19 under par).  Countback on the back nine showed MJFS just pipped it, and so they win the trophy for the third time, having previously won it in 2012 and 2013.

The individual contest proved even closer with 3 players, Martyn Jones, Tim Ware and Nigel Morse all finisheing with excellent rounds of -5.  Count back for the back 9 also saw Tim and Martyn tie, so Count back on the last 6 being the only way to seperate, with Martyn Jones eventually declared the winner, making it a clean sweep for the MJFS team in the stableford competitions.

The Longest drive was taken by Dean Coombs, with what the course pro stated as one of the best drives seen for a long time, whilst the Nearest the Pin was also won by Martyn Jones , altough not quite as special an effort, being apprx 10 meters away from the pin on what proved a very tricky green to hit for most competitors.

Following the golf competition an Auction and Raffle was held, which helped raise over £2,000 for the Charity, making the event once again a huge success.

Thanks to everyone who attended, donated prizes, bought raffle tickets, or helped out in any way.

Details on 2018 competition will be announced in due course.
